Steve graduated from Oxford with a BA in History and a Masters in Applied Social studies and became a social worker specialising in family work. In tandem with his career in social services Steve was a part-time sports commentator and radio broadcaster and eventually switched to radio full-time to launch new station GWR Bristol as the breakfast host. As the fledgling GWR company expanded Steve’s career grew with it and he moved through the ranks as Programme Controller, Managing Director, Group Programme Director and Group Operations Director then main board director when the company floated to become GWR Group PLC which later merged with Capital Group to become GCap Media PLC where he also became Group Operations Director.
As well as being accountable for the multi-million pound P&L delivery for major radio companies Steve is a renowned content and branding specialist. He was the first Programme Director to achieve a reach of 6 million adults for Classic FM, brought LBC back to the airwaves and launched the first national DAB commercial radio station Planet Rock. As a first-class talent coach, he led a number of award-winning teams across the UK and internationally and has coached a number of commercial radio’s leading players such as Chris Moyles, Johnny Vaughan, Jeremy Kyle, Scott Mills and Richard Bacon.
Steve is CEO of Quidem Group which operates six Capital Radio stations in the Midlands. He is also Chairman of Atlantic Screen Music a publisher specialising in Movie score. He is a Fellow of the Radio Academy and a trustee of National Prison Radio.
