Having been awarded a Royal Marines University bursary, Jim read Comparative American Studies at Warwick , graduating with a BA in 1982. On completion of a Short Service Commission, he then embarked upon a career in finance.
He became a specialist in the South East Asian equity markets with Barings Bank before a move to Flemings, initially in London. In the early ‘90s Jim moved to Kuala Lumpur as country head and managing director of Jardine Fleming’s operations in Malaysia and Singapore, thereafter relocating to Jardine Fleming’s headquarters in Hong Kong.
A return to London coincided with a shift to fundraising in the private equity sector, initially with Campbell Lutyens then latterly as CEO of Hamilton Lane where he opened their first non-US office and co-ordinated the fund raising efforts in Europe,the Far East and Australia.
For the last fifteen years, Jim has been a partner at EFP Capital specializing in both structuring and international fundraising for institutional and private clients. Much of his focus has been on alternative investments ,with an emphasis on private equity, and over the years has developed a particular affinity with the Scandinavian markets.
